Heading to The Big Easy to celebrate my dear friend Shari's milestone birthday was an adventure I had been eagerly anticipating! Although our departure was delayed, we arrived just in time to rush to our float for the load-up party before the grand parade. The atmosphere was electric as we joined fellow revelers, all buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

Getting Ready for the Parade

After picking up our vibrant costumes, which we later adorned and bedazzled, we mingled with some fellow Crew members. Sharing stories and laughter added to the festive spirit, making the preparations feel like a celebration in their own right. The sense of camaraderie among everyone was palpable, and it was clear that this parade would be an event to remember.

A Culinary Journey at Dakar NOLA

Following the exhilarating preparations, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Dakar NOLA, a renowned James Beard award-winning Senegalese restaurant. The ambiance was warm and inviting, filled with the rich aromas of spices and lively conversation. The menu was a beautifully curated narrative that showcased Senegal's culinary heritage, featuring dishes that highlighted local ingredients and traditional cooking methods.
